Senior Conceptual Estimator
Job Description
What are the Key Objectives:
Analyze Request for Proposals (RFPs), plans, amendments, and other documentation to prepare accurate time, cost, schedules, materials, design, and labor estimates. Collaborate with clients across diverse sectors, including multi-family, retail, mixed-use, medical, K-12, higher education, local municipalities, and state agencies. Lead and participate in bid day activities and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) preparation, ensuring accuracy and competitive bidding. Consult with clients, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to resolve issues and enhance project outcomes. Actively recruit, evaluate, and build relationships with qualified subcontractors, emphasizing minority participation and long-term partnerships. Deliver estimates across all project phases (conceptual, schematic, and design development) tailored to client needs. Conduct site visits to assess existing systems, building conditions, and prepare cost estimates. Develop historical cost databases and maintain directories of reliable suppliers and subcontractors. Implement best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with company goals. Mentor and train staff to strengthen the teams capabilities, fostering long-term growth. Work with cross-functional teams to deliver construction management-at-risk and design-build project delivery methods. Leverage expertise in target-value design estimating Assess the cost-effectiveness of products or services and track actual costs relative to bids. Track historical budget/estimate data with visual metrics for business development. Seek and research bidding opportunities to drive business growth.
What You Offer:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in construction estimating, including at least 3 years in conceptual estimating. Strong knowledge of construction trades, building systems, documentation processes, and industry methodologies. Proven ability to deliver conceptual estimates across all project delivery methods, including private, public, and federal projects. Experience working with diverse funding requirements, including state prevailing wages, and specialized funding. A proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with subcontractors and foster minority participation initiatives. Leadership skills to mentor and train team members, while driving innovative ideas for business growth.
