Job Description
Job Description Under direct supervision of the physician, assists in patient care as delegated by the physician. Performs clerical duties, phlebotomy, simple laboratory functions, and assists in direct patient care. Ensures patients and customers are processed in a professional, timely and efficient manner. Utilizes the nursingprocess, for the performance of patient care, to assess, plan, intervene, andevaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes. Performs admissionassessment. Obtains vital signs, blood pressures, pulse, temperature, heights,and weights and records information appropriately, accurately and in a timelymanner. •Reviews and updatesmedication list at each visit. Documents allergies and type of reaction. •Demonstrates personalaccountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional andcompassionate manner. •Maintains patient flowfrom waiting area to exam rooms and keeps patients informed of unexpectedwaits. Delegates, appropriately, tasks/procedures to otherteam members who are prepared/qualified to perform. Assists provider duringclinic in accordance with CMA scope of practice. This includes, but not limited to: •Collects and preparesspecimens for lab tests as needed. •Maintains instrumentsand equipment. •Preps patients forprocedures. •Performs treatmentsincluding childhood/adult immunizations. •Prepares andadministers medications as directed by a physician. •Provides patientteaching as needed during clinic visit including family or significant other asindicated. Minimum 36 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
Effective knowledge and familiarity with word processing, computer navigation, and e-mail Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program Must have knowledge of correct telephone answering techniques Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers and all members of the health care team Is able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change Minimum 3 years customer services experience preferred
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
Active Certified Medical Assistant license Basic Life Support (BLS)
