CLASS TITLE: WAREHOUSE WORKER/DELIVERY DRIVER
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Warehouse/Print Shop Supervisor, assist in a District warehouse or stockroom filling orders for stocked items; receive and verify incoming shipments; drive a vehicle to pick up and deliver items.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class.
Fill orders for custodial supplies, materials and equipment; fill orders of custodial chemicals; mix, label, and deliver custodial chemicals according to established procedures. E
Fill orders for food supplies, materials and equipment, and deliver according to established procedures. E
Fill orders for school supplies, textbooks, computers, audio-visual equipment, mail, and other equipment and supplies necessary for the operation of the District, and deliver according to established procedures. E
Utilize various types of equipment, such as a pallet jack and forklift, to assist with moving and rotating warehouse stock. E
Take physical inventory counts. E
Maintain warehouse in a clean and orderly condition. E
Deliver District's bank deposits to bank, County Office of Education, or wherever required; pick up, sort and deliver District and U.S. mail; deliver Board packets. E
Pick up money at school cafeterias and deliver to designated location for preparation of bank night deposits; maintain related records. E
Deliver monthly payroll checks. E
Maintain records of delivery receipts, money pick-up sheets and payroll receipts; maintain route logs. E
Check delivery vehicle to ensure proper working condition; check oil and fluid levels, lights and tires; fuel vehicles. E
Substitute in related warehouse functions as necessary such as Storekeeper and Mail Clerk.
Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods of receipts, storage and issuance of supplies and equipment. Safe driving practices and traffic laws. Basic principles and methods of servicing automotive equipment. Proper methods of loading and unloading. Proper methods of lifting heavy objects. Basic record-keeping techniques.
ABILITY TO: Wrap and pack articles for shipping and storage. Lift and move heavy objects; perform heavy physical labor. Make arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy. Operate a forklift. Learn record-keeping procedures associated with assigned duties. Drive an assigned vehicle to pick up and deliver items. Read road maps, labels and route schedules. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work cooperatively with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent and experience in warehouse or delivery work.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Presentation and continuance of a satisfactory driving record to ensure maintenance of liability insurance coverage. Obtain and maintain forklift operator's certification as mandated by the District. Certification must be obtained within the first six months in the position.
WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and outdoor environment. Delivery vehicle work environment. Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. Sitting for extended periods of time. Walking and carrying, pushing or pulling heavy furniture, equipment and supplies. Bending at the waist. Lifting heavy objects.
HAZARDS: Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions. Fumes from vehicle and equipment operation and custodial cleaning chemicals. Exposure to diesel fumes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATES: Valid California Driver's License; presentation and continuance of a satisfactory driving record to ensure maintenance of liability insurance coverage. Obtain and maintain forklift operator's certification as mandated by the District. Certification must be obtained within the first six months in the position. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination. Cost of the exam will be borne by the District. A pre-employment drug screening will also be administered. If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted. A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
