Summary: The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of the CNC Lathe. Duties/Responsibilities:
Sets up CNC Lathe to perform a combination of machining operations such as facing, turning, boring, threading, drilling, reaming, knurling metal work pieces to specifications. Sets up and operates CNC Lathe to complete metal work pieces to specifications. Reviews set up sheets and specifications to determine program sequence, sets up operation and dimensions of finished work piece. Inserts cutting tools/tool holders and positions tools on turret. Verifies accuracy of machined work pieces against blueprints or engineering drawings by measuring cuts with inspection tooling and gages. Runs secondary operations on another machine when time allows. Aids management in scheduling workload to save time. Reports any discrepancies to immediate supervisor. Performs regular daily maintenance on equipment, tools, gages and keep work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner. Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Skills and Physical Requirements:
Oral & Written Communication Skills Reading Skills Technical Communication Math Aptitude Time Management High School Diploma or Equivalent. Prior experience in set up required.
Working Conditions: Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts Physical Requirements:
Must have ability to read applicable customer/B&E documents with or without corrective lenses. Must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds or more on a regular basis Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
