In a full time capacity, you will be a part of the multidisciplinary psychiatric team, providing and directing social services on the inpatient unit at River Bend Hospital in West Lafayette, Indiana. Social Services Director Key Responsibilities:
Provides assessment, case formulation, and treatment planning to patients admitted to the hospital. Provides an appropriate range of individual therapy modalities. Provides the delivery of group therapy. Provides the delivery of family/couple therapy. Provides assistance with screening for admission requests. Collaborates with families for collateral information and ongoing treatment updates. Enters chart notes in a timely manner and consistent with Treatment Plan objectives. Deals positively with patient and family requests. Prepares the patient and family for discharge and works with patient to formulate a realistic plan. Maintains professional boundaries. Attends team meetings and staff meetings. Meets with assigned supervisor for clinical and administrative supervision, as needed. Good time management skills including the ability to structure time, prioritize activities, and be self-motivated. Works well with staff of other agencies and with colleagues. Effectively works as a member of the treatment team. Effectively communicates with consumers, families, coworkers, and other agency staff. Teaches, trains, and/or supervises students, as assigned. Maintains patient records in accordance with hospital standards. Retains active professional license. Continues professional growth and development through participation in specialized workshops, professional groups, and individual study. Provides assistance with assessment of ‘walk-in’ emergencies and direct outcome. Participates in the organization’s quality improvement program.
We are seeking Social Services Director candidates with the following qualities:
Master’s degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, or Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling from an accredited therapy/counseling program accepted by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau with 60 credit hours of graduate work and the required practicum acceptable for licensure in Indiana. Social Workers must maintain Indiana License as a Clinical Social Worker, as eligible. Mental Health Counselors must maintain Indiana License as a Mental Health Counselor, as eligible. Marriage and Family therapists must maintain Indiana License as a Marriage and Family therapist, as eligible. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed to ensure coverage of needs. Holds a valid Indiana Driver’s License, has a reliable vehicle, a good driving record, and automobile insurance. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid is preferable. This is available at the hospital. Meets pre-hire competency and reference requirement.
