Position Summary
The Randall Oaks Assistant Fitness Supervisor will create and deepen relationships with members that will add value to their membership, enhance their sense of belonging and sense of community within the Fitness Center. Also, the Randall Oaks Assistant Fitness Supervisor will provide the members of the Randall Oaks Fitness Center with a pleasant exercise experience. The Randall Oaks Assistant Fitness Supervisor is under the direction of the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for all operational and program functions and the supervision as they relate to Randall Oaks Fitness Center. Work in collaboration with the Rakow Assistant Fitness Supervisor to plan, organize and implement new registration fitness programming/events. Supervise and manage fitness staff (Fitness Attendants, Trainers etc.) at the Randall Oaks Fitness Center. Work with the Rakow Assistant Fitness Supervisor with the hiring and training of new fitness employees. Promote good member relations. Responsible for processing all Randall Oaks Fitness Center paperwork (EFT, Adjustment Forms, Membership Applications, etc.). Assist with member/guest fitness related questions. Inform members of proper facility conduct. Help to maintain equipment in a safe and working order (equipment repair forms) . Work with the Rakow Assistant Fitness Supervisor with conducting necessary fitness staff training (s) /meeting (s) . Assist with fitness staff annual evaluations. Responsible for submitting monthly Fitness E-Newsletter content to the Marketing Department. Responsible for submitting monthly Fitness Reports to the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager (membership totals, program totals, etc.). Ensure proper marketing flyers are posted and distributed within the Randall Oaks Fitness Center. Ensure an appropriate quantity of membership forms are available at the Randall Oaks Fitness Center. Maintain inventory on laundry supplies/fitness equipment at the Randall Oaks Fitness Center. Inform the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager should supplies/equipment be needed. Maintain fitness membership filing system/file membership documentation. Ensure all Personal Training, New Member Orientation and Fitness University requests are forwarded to the correct fitness personnel. Work with the Marketing Department, Rakow Assistant Fitness Supervisor and Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager to develop new fitness promotions/specials. Perform all duties as specified by the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager. Be knowledgeable of facility emergency procedures. Responsible for complying with all safety and loss prevention policies. Must ensure that all responsibilities and use of equipment is performed in a safe, prudent manner. Must always utilize required Personal Protective Equipment. Inform supervisor of any unsafe conditions or hazardous work procedures. Correct any unsafe conditions, if possible, and instruct co-workers on safety procedures.
Marginal Functions/Responsibilities
Assist at Fitness Special Events, as needed. Attending professional conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay current in the field of expertise. Assist the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager with duties, as needed. Other non-essential duties as assigned.
Communication & Customer Service
Develops and maintains positive and effective working relationships with coworkers and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Communicates matters of importance in a timely manner.
Makes recommendations to management for improvements and efficiencies. Employee represents the Dundee Township Park District in a professional manner.
Safety & Risk Management
Maintains a working knowledge of all general and departmental-specific safety rules. Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier. Reports any work-related injuries to the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager Immediately reports all accidents and unsafe conditions to the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager. Attends all required safety program and in-service education meetings. Corrects unsafe conditions, if possible, alerts co-workers to potential unsafe conditions and/or reports them to the Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager. Instructs co-workers, when necessary, on safety procedures or precautions.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, Parks & Recreation, Kinesiology or related field. Certified in First Aid/AED/CPR or ability to obtain certification within 3 months. Proficient with RecTrac 3.1 and Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of fitness equipment. Knowledge of health and fitness. Must have project management, organization and time management skills High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. A valid drivers license is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Good physical condition, sufficient strength, and mobility required. Physical ability to demonstrate proper equipment usage. Mechanical aptitude required, including the use of tools, equipment, and machinery. Knowledge and skills in technology, or the ability to learn. Ability to learn additional software and systems required for business transactions. Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English language. Possess good problem-solving skills and has capacity to act rationally and calmly in high stress and/or emergency situations. Ability to work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends as required. Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail. Ability to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Highly organized with excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Hours Standards
The Randall Oaks Assistant Fitness Supervisor works approximately 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and weekday evening hours. Standard hours are 3pm-9pm. The Randall Oaks Recreation Center Facility Manager may require this employee to exceed 30 hours of work in certain situations.
