Job Title: Communications Systems Engineer NASA Support
Job Location : Remote Work (Travel may be required)
Description PRT is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer (CSE) for the Flight Dynamics Support Services III (FDSS-III) contract at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Spaceflight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland. FDSS-III supports NASAs Human Space Flight missions, including the International Space Station, SpaceX Dragon, and the Moon-to-Mars Program with Gateway, Artemis, the Human Landing System, and more! This position collaborates with the NASA Network Elements and Mission Managers to facilitate mission requirements, documentation and Network Reviews across all missions while maintaining mission schedules and product delivery for the Task. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and representative for the Human Space Flight (HSF) Communications Network across different missions assigned.
Reports To Human Space Flight (HSF) Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Project Manager
Responsibilities
Identify, validate and implement solutions to assure successful support of various crewed and robotic missions operated by NASA, International Partners, and commercial entities fulfilling objective in low-earth and lunar orbits
Evaluate design documentation and verification for compliance with customer and internally derived requirements and for hazard control closure
Evaluate System Level test results, reports & review packages
Support and deliver SE Products and other deliverables, with a focus on mission success
Develop/implement and communicate solutions to routine Engineering problems
Provide systems engineering support for technical reviews
Write status and technical performance reviews, analyses and reports
Author, review and extract critical information from Requirements Documents, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Test Plans, Verification Matrices, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and other technical documentation
Participate in Systems requirements reviews, Preliminary & Critical Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings and peer reviews
Perform anomaly analysis and implement corrective actions where needed
Support HSF objectives at national / international working group meetings and reviews
Serve as a member and advisor in various working groups and advisory panels to assure mission success
Coordinate across NASA centers, organizations and internal group elements
Some travel may be required. Potential off-hours work may be required when working with International Partners
Required Skills

Possess an understanding and application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in a segment of Satellite Communications, such as Space to Ground, baseband processing, or other specialty
Excellent communication and organizational skills along with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment virtually as well as in-person
Ability to conduct planning activities and negotiate satellite network coordination agreements
Ability to perform fault isolation and recovery to reported anomalies, independently developing solutions and then presenting a comprehensive review for implementation
Experience authoring and maintaining requirements documentation, procedure documents, analysis documents and research reports
Ability to coordinate, generate and present large presentations for review boards
Attention to detail and a desire to find root causes and develop recommendations
Ability to develop trust and consensus between various organizations with differing practices and expectations
Desired Skills
Mission and/or vehicle systems engineering experience for mission critical applications
Failure analysis or fault management technical experience
Experience with Systems Engineering process
Experience defining requirements & interfaces
Understanding of spacecraft integration & test, launch, and mission operations
Experience with human spaceflight vehicle development including integration & test
Experience developing verification documentation
Required Degree
Bachelors of Science degree in technical field + 7 years of experience, or Masters of Science degree in technical discipline + 5 years of experience
Security Clearance Requirements Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
