Reports to: Help at Home Manager
Position Summary: The Home Care Support employee is responsible for performing direct support services as established upon completion of the admission assessment. The services are provided under the direction of the Operational Manager and Homecare Director as assigned by keeping with LifeCare Alliance agency policies and program policies of practice. This position works independently with clients in conjunction with other agency staff. Work performed in this position will be of a paraprofessional and confidential. Work requires an attention to detail, excellent written, and verbal communication skills, flexibility, and an ability to handle multiple tasks. This position will have frequent contact with agency personnel, clients, and other community agencies. A positive and cooperative image and attitude is crucial for this position. This position requires a significant amount of independence, prudent decision, self-direction, and self-discipline to accomplish its essential functions and responsibilities.
Principal responsibilities/essential functions:
Responsible for providing light housekeeping services. This includes vacuuming, dusting, laundry, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, and cleaning the refrigerator. Responsible for providing errand services. This includes grocery shopping, picking up medication, and paying bills. Responsible for delivering and completing required client and agency documents. This includes client service records, timesheets, and mileage sheets. Responsible for reporting changes in client condition according to department protocols. This includes physical, mental, and environmental changes. Responsible for performing other department or agency functions. This includes attending in-services, attending required meetings, following mandated safety regulations including infection control standards, delivering documents to clients, delivering fans.
Working Conditions Work is primarily in agency office and client homes, which may include a variety of home environments and living conditions. Work REQUIRES employee to drive throughout Franklin County and in all types of weather conditions. Work is generally between 8:00am and 5:00pm, and on call hours as assigned. However, evening and weekend assignments may occasionally be required. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. Prefer two years of general housekeeping experiences either residential, corporate, or medical facility related to this position. Community health care service experience with culturally diverse and/or elderly population. Valid Ohio driver’s license. Vehicle available for agency use, proper auto insurance 100,000/300,000 coverage and an adequate driving record.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities Able to use mature judgement and be sensitive to older adults, family, community and work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with LifeCare staff, clients, and other community agencies. Ability to document and maintain confidential records. Ability to add and subtract numbers correctly. Ability to read a map and find various locations. Ability to effectively communicate with clients and staff members. Knowledge of basic housekeeping practice and cleaning.
