Job Description Job Description Position Title: Director of Government Material Sales Location: Columbus, Ohio (Preference for in-house; remote considered for highly qualified candidates) Compensation: Depends on experience Benefits : Full benefits package, including 401k Position Summary: The position requires someone who is comfortable leading, strategizing, and implementing a complete Government Material Sales Division. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in sourcing and securing government contracts, as well as purchasing and trading goods and services for open government contracts. This individual will play a critical role in identifying bidding opportunities and developing competitive proposals. Key Responsibilities:
Proactively search for government bidding opportunities on platforms such as DIBBS, Govspend, and other government procurement boards. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Federal sales cycle, including navigating partner networks and procurement processes. Identify, source, and cultivate new sales opportunities across Federal agencies. Analyze market dynamics to maximize existing successes and identify new growth opportunities.
Develop, evolve, and execute a comprehensive Federal sales and marketing strategy. Prepare and submit accurate and competitive bids to acquire government contracts. Execute purchasing activities to fulfill contractual obligations in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Maintain a thorough understanding of procurement regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines. Collaborate with internal teams to align procurement strategies with organizational goals. Monitor the performance of awarded contracts and address any issues that may arise during project execution. Build and sustain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favorable terms.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in sourcing government contracts and preparing bids.
Strong knowledge of government procurement platforms and processes.
Understanding of purchasing and buying best practices.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a government contract role.
Familiarity with DIBBS, Govspend, or similar platforms.
Current relationship with OEMs and Government Contract members.
