Hours: full-time (37.5 hours per week) Location: Amherst Wellness Center, Amherst, VA 24521 Compensation dependent on experience
$5000 Hiring Bonus for Amherst School-Based Clinician LMHP-E/LMHP, active as of 12/17/2024, $5000 total, paid in three (3) installments; $2000 upon receipt of the following: background clearances, including fingerprint background check, acceptable drug screen results, satisfactory references; $1500 upon satisfactory completion of the six (6) month probationary period; $1500 upon completion of twelve (12) months of continuous employment, with a satisfactory performance evaluation. This hiring bonus is applicable to new hires only. Individuals having been employed with Horizon within less than 1 year from the date the application is received are not eligible for the new hire bonus.
Position Summary The School-Based Clinician, licensed or resident in counseling, will assess the needs of individuals referred to the program and use the information obtained to develop and implement appropriate treatment approaches and counseling support services. These services include developing individual treatment plans, conducting assessments, providing counseling services, and educating individuals on available community resources. Required Education and Experience
Master's Degree from a program that prepares individuals to practice counseling (60-hr Master's Program), which is offered by a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency. (Re: 54.1-3500 of the Code of Virginia). No experience required. Resident in Professional Counseling, Supervisee in Clinical Social Work, Resident in Licensed Marriage, Family Therapy, Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment, or eligibility to apply for residency. Note: New hires will be expected to apply for clinical supervision and residency within 30 days of hire.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources; Knowledge of nursing best practices. Knowledge of the principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, physical health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse. Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
