Position Summary: Sets up construction project estimates to comply with the estimating standards of Marker. Reads and understands plans and specifications for a variety of projects. Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements. Provides accurate quantity take-off of materials necessary to construct the project as presented in plans and/or specifications. Provides analysis of labor and equipment necessary to perform portions of the work by Marker forces and conveys this information to management for go/no-go decisions. Provides accurate analysis of the project scope in order to convey this information to the assigned pursuit team to ascertain bid strategy and pricing. Effective use of the Company-provided estimating software to ensure accurate and complete bid and budgetary pricing. Accurately identifies the types of subcontractors necessary to complete any given project with the understanding of the work scope and location of the project. Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials, identifying qualified subcontractors, and negotiating pricing. Cultivates and fosters relationships with subcontractors, both new and existing. Interacts clearly with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and fellow associates in all forms of communications. Evaluates, coordinates, collaborates with suppliers and/or subcontractors pricing to ensure they have included a complete scope of work. Actively works with the business development team to design successful bid strategies. Interacts effectively with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors after the bid in order to obtain as much information as possible. Maintains current cost data and updates estimating databases for accuracy. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Tracks and reports key metrics to the Director of Estimating as required.
