Job Description: Role Overview: The Clinical Chemistry Service in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at MSK is seeking an outstanding clinical chemist or clinical pathologist at the level of Assistant , Associate or Attending Pathologist. The MSK Clinical Chemistry Service represents one of the largest clinical chemistry units in the United States dedicated to the care of cancer patients . The service employs 6 faculty supported by 1 manager and 1 assistant manager, 5 supervisors and 45 technologists. The laboratory system is harmonized across four sites within Manhattan, and six regional sites located in New Jersey, Westchester, and Long Island . Experience in informatics, mass spectrometry, molecular testing, toxicology, immunoassays, and automated chemistry is desirable. Key Responsibilities : Clinical and Administrative : Sign out in the protein immunology area (electrophoresis and immunofixation). Maintenance of compliance with regulatory mandates as a d irector or assistant director of core laboratories, point of care testing or other specialty areas. Consultation with health care providers and multidisciplinary disease management teams on laboratory testing to support the management of cancer patients. Research: Development of a productive research program with publications in high quality, peer-reviewed scientific journals with extramural or industry grant funding Expertise in translational assay development for clinical and cancer biomarker s Teaching: Training pathology residents, students, clinical fellows , laboratory technologists and supervisors through lectures, clinical supervision and mentorship. Led by Dr. Kojo Elenitoba-Johnson, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at MSK is one of the largest clinical practices in the United States dedicated to the diagnosis of cancer. The department employs over 125 pathologists supported by a dedicated team of over 1200 allied health staff and state of the art laboratory infrastructure including surgical pathology, immunohistochemistry, cytology, hematopathology, flow cytometry, hematology, immunology, transfusion medicine/cell therapy, microbiology, clinical chemistry, proteomics, cytogenetics, and molecular pathology laboratories. The Department has made a significant investment in digital pathology, with routine scanning of diagnostic slides both prospectively and from the archives of 25 million slides. There is a wealth of image data with accompanying clinical and genomic annotation, allowing for highly impactful research in computational pathology and advanced imaging technologies. The Department has committed to exploring novel technologies for the analysis of pathology specimens and supports a wide range of research using machine learning and computationally assisted imaging platforms. Collaborations are available with members of the diagnostic pathology faculty and with computational faculty within the Department and other institutional programs (Computational Biology, Computational Oncology, Medical Physics, Radiology, etc.). Joint appointment in one or more of these collaborating programs is possible. The Warren Alpert Center for Digital and Computational Pathology (WAC) was established in 2017, with a generous support from The Warren Alpert Foundation. Maintain flexibility for working hours as IVF processes are time-dependent, including weekend (some flexibility may be possible depending on lab unit location and season). Follow established IVF processes including: Plate and media preparation;

oocyte collection and maturation;

semen processing;

fertilization; embryo culture;

embryo evaluation;

embryo loading; embryo freezing.

Assist with maintaining integrity, accuracy, labelling and traceability of: Data recording; media;

oocyte collection; semen procedure; embryo production.

Assist with lab maintenance: Keep benches, work equipment and materials sanitized;

tracking materials, equipment and production inventory; handling LN2 following safety protocols;

Equipment monitoring and calibration.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
