Role Summary: The Head of Merchandise is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of merchandise operations for Round Room Live, and our touring properties. This role focuses on maximizing revenue through innovative product offerings, managing logistics and vendor relations, and ensuring a seamless merchandise experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in merchandising, retail operations, and live event sales, with the ability to oversee end-to-end processes from concept to customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandise Strategy & Development Develop and execute a merchandise strategy aligned with the brand identity and fan engagement goals. Identify and create unique, high-quality products tailored to each show and audience demographic. Work closely with show creative teams and brand owners to ensure merchandise aligns with the artistic vision of productions.
Sales & Revenue Growth Establish and manage pricing strategies to optimize sales and profitability. Develop strategies to drive revenue across multiple sales channels, including on-site sales, online stores, and exclusive pre-orders. Analyze sales data and audience insights to improve product offerings and increase conversion rates.
Operations & Logistics Oversee the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring timely production, shipping, and inventory management. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure quality control across all merchandise. Coordinate with touring teams to streamline merchandise distribution and on-site sales at each venue.
Team Leadership & On-Site Execution Recruit, train, and oversee touring and on-site merchandise staff for all RRL productions. Implement best practices for customer service, visual merchandising, and POS technology. Monitor performance and adjust sales tactics to maximize per-cap revenue at each stop.
Marketing & Branding Collaborate with marketing teams to integrate merchandise promotions into overall show campaigns. Develop exclusive and limited-edition product drops to enhance audience engagement. Utilize digital marketing tools, influencer partnerships, and fan communities to drive merchandise awareness.
Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years of experience in merchandise management, preferably in live entertainment, touring productions, or themed attractions. Strong knowledge of product development, supply chain logistics, licensed product sourcing and sales strategies. Experience managing budgets, forecasting sales, and analyzing financial reports. Experience with brand management, working closely with IP owners on creative, product lines and distribution strategies Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, touring environment. Excellent negotiation skills and vendor management experience. Proficiency with POS systems, e-commerce platforms, and inventory management software. Ability to travel extensively as required by touring schedules.
Location: This position is based in the US, preferably in the Eastern Time Zone. The role can work remotely, travel may be required. Round 1: Screening Video Call with People & Culture Lead
An initial screening conducted by the People & Culture Lead to assess the candidate's fit and qualifications. Round 2: Team Interview
An interview with members of the Round Room team to evaluate the candidate's skills, experience, and cultural fit within the department. Round 3: Final Interview with Co-CEOs
A final interview with key decision-makers to assess the candidate's suitability for the position and alignment with the organization. This position reports to the CEO.
