Job Title: Center Licensed Practical Nurse
Location: Idaho Area
Schedules: Monday-Thursday (MST) 9-2pm (20 hours per week)
Assignment Date: February 17, 2025 through May 31, 2025
Job Responsibilities:
Advising the center director and health services staff on all medical and health related matters. This shall include the advisability of medical separations, including the furnishing of diagnosis, prognosis, and recommendations for future care; the utilization and cost of services; the personalization of patient care; and any other health areas deemed appropriate by the Health and Wellness Director (HWD), center physician and the center director. Consulting with center staff on ordering, accounting for, and safeguarding health equipment, supplies, and medications. Developing a system to promote the coordination and integration of the health components (Medical, oral health, mental health, environmental health, and health education) with other center activities. This will be done in cooperation with the HWD, center physician, center dentist, and center mental health consultant. Ensuring the maintenance, confidentiality, and safeguarding of all health records Staying current on Job Corps policies and procedures via frequent communication with the center’s HWD, center physician and review of the Job Corps Health and Wellness website and participate in any national center NP or physician teleconferences. Take, evaluate, and record comprehensive health histories and perform cursory medical inspection for each student within the first 48 hours after arrival at the center. Perform comprehensive physical examinations required to evaluate health status and acute and/or chronic medical problems within 14 days of students’ arrival at the center. This includes PAP tests for females 21 years old or older upon entry, as well as breast exams for all female students and testicular exams for male students during the exam upon entry. Order, conduct, and interpret appropriate screening studies, tests, and diagnostic procedures used to assess and diagnose problems and establish management/treatment plans. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute episodic and chronic illnesses, minor traumas, and behavioral/psychological problems. Initiate consultation requests and work in collaboration with specialists and other health professionals as appropriate. Teach, counsel, and advise students about current health status, illness(es), and health promotion and disease prevention activities. Prescribe non-pharmacological therapies and pharmacological agents to include schedule controlled substances within the scope of specialty of nurse practitioner/physician assistant. The center LPN agrees to adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines established by MTC, operator of the center and Job Corps. The parties agree that the center LPN, under the Center Director’s guidance, will have primary responsibility to implement the program outlined above and may be assisted by the Job Corps National Office and/or health consultants. The center LPN, with the concurrence of the Center Director, may delegate by written and dated health care guidelines any of his/her responsibilities set forth in this contract to appropriate qualified staff. The center LPN may delegate professional responsibilities set forth in this contract to any other full- or part-time LPN only with the Center Director’s prior concurrence and a prior review of the secondary LPN’s qualifications by MTC, the center operator, Regional Director and Regional Medical Consultant for the Department of Labor, Job Corps.
