You will report to the Biomedical Engineering Section Head, working together to drive new directions of Biomedical Engineering and continue to provide operational support. As for other faculty members, research initiatives are also subject to review and approval by the Chair of the Department of Medical Physics. Role Overview Inspire and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to develop innovative and cost-effective designs in support of patient care. Efficiently manage team workflow to support a wide range of projects including proof-of-concept, product development, and sustaining engineering. Develop and maintain industry-leading tools for the group, including CAD and FEA software, 3D printers, and an in-house machine shop. Serve as a primary technical contributor in defining concepts for new system architectures. As a working manager, contribute individually to the development of new designs and design verification. As a critical member of the engineering department management team, help define and drive improvements to increase the quality, speed, and impact of our product development process. Core Requirements Doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or related field with at least 7 years of product development experience.  At least 4 years of experience managing a team of mechanical engineers. A track record of contributing to successful product introductions. In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and material properties of metals, ceramics, and plastics. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-4:00pm MUST be willing to be flexible as jobs may change

Estimator Responsibilities:

Read construction drawings and specifications Determine total costs for projects Prepare bids and Proposals Choose appropriate materials, verify prices, check contractors, and calculate profits on a given project Utilize effective communication skills to communicate with project managers, customers, and other associates Meet with contractors, builders, owners, and engineers on the jobs to bid Work with Project Managers to create change orders on project currently under contract as needed Assist in setting up budget on contact jobs

Estimator Experience and Qualification Requirements:

(5+) years estimating experience Proficient in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Experience with Accubid software a plus Computerized/Digital takeoff Basic knowledge of current means and method ofelectricalinstallations (1+) years of field experience with electrical installations a plus Strong computerized estimating skills Experience with conceptual estimating, low voltage systems estimating, & design/build estimating a plus Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications Familiarity with the NEC Excellent written and oral communication skills Must be able to work independently at times Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and the ability to multi-task Willing to learn and be a part of a team Positive attitude and a team player Perform additional assignments per supervisors direction Adhere to company screenings
