Our programs are spread across 25 locations and include over 1200 units of supportive housing in three boroughs, the Howie the Harp Advocacy Center, East Village Access—a PROS program, Peer-driven Crisis Respite Center, Adult Home Initiative, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and the Intensive Mobile Team (IMT).
Department Overview Community Access provides affordable housing and supportive services to individuals with psychiatric disabilities, histories of homelessness and substance use, and other low-income community members.
The Property Management department acts as the managing agent for buildings that Community Access (CA) developer, owns or controls. The Property Management department is responsible for lease maintenance, rent collection, property financial reports and compliance with government regulations (such as Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, HOME, and Housing Trust Fund).
Specifically, the maintenance staff is responsible for supporting Community Access’ vision, mission and values by delivering excellent customer service in meeting the maintenance needs of the organization, working closely with all levels of staff to address and respond to their needs in a professional and timely manner.
Overview:
Under the supervision of the Regional Building Superintendent, the Maintenance Mechanic assists with maintaining agency apartments and facilities as needed and directed by the Bronx Regional Building Superintendent. Assistance includes cleaning, disinfection, trash removal and other building maintenance tasks, as well as minor repair in the areas of masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and overall maintenance of residential building systems.
Job Qualifications Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Community Access. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). At least one-year technical training and one year work experience in one or more of the building trades. Possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License, preferred Must be fingerprinted and cleared by the Justice Center. Possess the aptitude and skills for work in masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting etc. Must have basic math skills. Ability to work overtime hours as needed. Must be able to lift and carry items, which weigh up to 100lbs. regularly. Ability to prioritize tasks and perform repair work independently. Ability to direct work of other staff. Be creative and flexible. Show initiative and be responsible for follow through. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
