MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
The Resident Assistant provides concrete and clinical supportive social services to the residents. He/she teaches through demonstration and by role-modeling socially appropriate behavior. He/she is directly supervised by the Clinical Care Coordinator.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry a caseload. Conduct instructional and guidance groups to aid individuals in skills of daily living and personal hygiene and provide direct supervision of residents' personal care. Conduct socialization groups to aid individuals in development of ADL and socialization skills. Conduct recreational groups/activities, and provide direct assistance in leisure time activities. Provide assistance with activities associated with housekeeping. Instruct and supervise resident job function(s) and their performance. Provide escort services for residents going into the community. Provide close observation and supervision for residents in crisis. Record contacts with all residents through regular charting; monthly notes required for residents on caseload. Attend in-service and off-site training seminars as designated by their supervisor. Intervene with counseling, assistance, referral and recommendations surrounding residents with mental health/chemical abuse problems; provide feedback to counselor and Clinical Team regarding these situations. Dine with the Harbor community in order to set a relaxed tone and social environment by role modeling and monitoring activities of daily living related to proper dinning; supervise individualized specified dietary restrictions for those living with medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High School Diploma/GED required with some experience in rehabilitation counseling, substance abuse counseling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation or in the mental health field highly preferred. Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required. This position requires on call availability.
