JOB SUMMARY
Our busy, growing gym is in need of a Personal Trainer to take over mentoring and fitness guidance sessions with our clients. The successful applicant will not only be responsible for taking on existing clients based on need, but also for soliciting new business and teaching gym members about the benefits of personal training. We’re looking for a motivated individual with sales experience who can help us establish a competitive edge in Manhattan. Since many of our members are interested in cardio, strength and wellness, trainers with experience in those areas will receive top priority. Advancement to a managerial position is a possibility. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities: Assume the responsibility of training existing clients who are interested in increasing their fitness levels, losing weight and entering competitions Provide clients with safe, reasonable exercises that they can perform in the gym as well as at home Give clients ample notice if you need to change appointment times and respond quickly to clients who must change their schedules Talk to members of the gym about their goals and introduce them to our personal training packages Work with the General manager to collect payments from your clients and enter them into our sales tracking system Conduct telephone inquiries, follow up calls and customer care calls Lead new member tours with prospects and/or personal training program holders Follow up and follow through with all prospective clients Work closely with our wellness center to ensure that members have a first-class, comprehensive experience every time they visit Attend and participate in all training and educational programs Advise clients about important safety concerns and demonstrate exercises or maneuvers as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Qualifications:
2+ years’ experience in personal training or group fitness instruction
Ability to perform exercises and movements as demonstrations for clients
Sales experience a plus
Must have a passion for people (“Customer is always first”)
Must be attentive, outgoing, positive, friendly and engaging
Must have previous sales experience
Must be willing to enthusiastically sell based on a bonus and commission-based pay structure
Must have outstanding customer service skills
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a busy, high-energy environment
Must be able to work as a team with other Trainers/Coaches
Must be flexible with work hours
Health and fitness-minded applicants are preferred
High school diploma is required
