Job Description: Afinitas, a company of Barry-Wehmiller, is hiring! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied. Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame-cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures, and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for a specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices. Perform basic saw operations and painting as required. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers. Assist with the detection of defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and report to the supervisor. Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements. Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints. Beginning level grinding knowledge. Beginning-level experience in MIG, TIG, and flex core welding. Team-oriented. Communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
