Radiology Scheduler
Job Description
Overview He/she is responsible for the scheduling of outpatients for testing, treatment or other procedures in an expeditious, friendly and courteous manner. Responsibilities Takes telephone reservations from doctor’s offices, patients and others as appropriate. Coordinates appropriate reservation information to other departments through Meditech, e-mail, physician orders, letters, calls, faxes and Audix messages. Anticipates scheduling conflicts and problems using good judgment in conflict resolution; is able to edit schedules as requested by area supervisors. Responds appropriately to requests for information pertaining to reservations. Is able to obtain and record pre-cert numbers for any test requiring precertification. Cooperatively works with multiple facility modalities and the different requirements for each. Knowledge of community-wide centralized scheduling module and is able to schedule, order and edit exams for multiple departments including radiology, neurology, pulmonary, cardiology, respiratory, and nutritional consults. Understands procedural charges and scheduled orders. Follows billing practices. Uses I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification, correct exam, and to improve patient communication and engagement.

Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent with good perception of order and minute details; self-motivated with the ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks. Strong communication, detail-oriented, critical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service skills are essential; quick learner, works at fast pace, expeditious, friendly and courteous to staff and physicians. Must be efficient in the use of all office equipment, computer and keyboard operations, and related material essential to good patient care and reports any problems when necessary.
