You will be given a great opportunity to enter the criminal defense legal field and immediately get involved in processing discovery on a daily basis, managing and overseeing cases, meeting with and managing clients and organizing all case materials and files. You must possess excellent organizational skills and be willing to learn, and to do all that's required to succeed in this position. Experience and proficiency at researching law, writing drafts of legal documents, motions and briefs will be a primary responsibility. Excellent reading comprehension, reading retention and communication skills will be required in this position. This candidate should feel comfortable handling communication between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases organized.
Responsibilities
Act as Case Manager, overseeing cases. Conduct client meetings and manage clients. Organize cases and case materials Conducting legal research Drafting routine legal documents Reviewing Discovery for content and legal standings. Facilitating the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders. Competent at computers, computer software, such as Word, Excel is a must. Experience in legal software such as MyCase is helpful. Willingness to attend court hearings, get continuances at court, etc. Able to take direction Someone who wants to be in Criminal Defense. Critical thinking, good writing skills and a willingness to do whatever duties as they arise is a must as a team player.
Qualifications
Experience as a Paralegal, or Legal Assistant Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
