In order to fulfill the job functions listed below an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications.
Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing. Possess current LPN license. Minimum of one-year experience in health care field (Preferred). Comply with all Facility policies and procedures. Comply with all policies and procedures as may be established by your Director. Comply with shift standards, duties, and responsibilities. Comply with all safety, universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures. Ensure resident safety. Present a friendly, calm, cooperative, positive manner. Maintain LPN licensure in the State of Michigan. Computer Knowledge/Medication Knowledge (uses, S/E's, contraindications). Medical Terminology and Abbreviations. Fit tested for N95 mask unless failed evaluation or test CPR Certification. Reports to the RN in charge. On occasion may need to lift up to 40 lbs. Prompt and regular attendance. May occasionally perform the duties of Nurses Aide. Assume charge of the nursing unit in the absence of the RN, under the direction of a supervising nurse or in consultation with the Director of Nursing. Give and receive report to and from other shifts. Make rounds with physician and assist with examinations as necessary. Admit, transfer, and discharge residents. Report changes in resident condition to the RN or the physician. Prepare & administer medications as ordered by the physician; assure prescribed medication is properly administered. Give injections and perform treatments as ordered; document observations. Apply and change dressings and slings. Care for residents in casts or traction. Care for residents in isolation. Perform glucometer readings. Insert, irrigate, and change catheters. Order Nursing Supplies Collect urine, stool and sputum specimens. Perform range of motion (ROM) exercises. Perform and monitor oxygen therapy, monitor IV therapy and pumps. Administer or discontinue IVs as ordered. Do not start an IV or provide IV push medications. Monitor residents vital signs. Assist with the dying resident and care of the deceased. Observe residents and report unusual findings to supervisor. Chart in Nurses Notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident's response; sign all entries. Supervise and monitor nursing care to include but not limited to positioning, cleanliness, safety, and resident rights. Complete and file record keeping forms required by the Facility. Supervise and monitor nursing care to include but not limited to positioning, cleanliness, safety, and resident rights. Report and initiate employee and resident Incident and Accident reports. Administer hot and cold applications. Take and record residents intake and output, vital signs, and other observations. Answer resident call lights. Assist in training other nursing personnel. Assist with cleaning duties not performed by housekeeping personnel. Offer suggestions for improved conditions or procedures to the supervising nurse. Assist with resident and employee emergencies, incidents and accidents; intervene as appropriate and complete required documentation. Provide direct resident care. Work together closely with the RN as partners to provide maximum resident care and efficiency for the shift. Put new orders into computers and on Mar/Tar. Maintain resident records. Maintain confidentiality. Requisition supplies, as needed. Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Immediately report malfunctioning or unsafe, or suspected malfunctioning or unsafe, equipment or conditions to supervisor. Attend required in-services. Attend required meetings. Other duties may be assigned
