Role Overview: The Sanitation Manager ensures the cleanliness and safety of Kommissary’s facilities while upholding compliance with food safety regulations and best practices. This role is responsible for overseeing sanitation initiatives, managing the sanitation team, and maintaining a clean and efficient production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily sanitation operations and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Manage the Master Sanitation Schedule, Environmental Microbiology Program, and Pest Control Programs. Conduct post-sanitation inspections to ensure all equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and production-ready. Train and manage a team of sanitation associates, holding them accountable for all sanitation processes. Collaborate with the Food Safety Manager on nonroutine sanitation functions and to address regulatory audits and inspections. Coordinate with sanitation chemical suppliers on SSOPs, cleaning chemicals, and equipment maintenance. Work cross-functionally to ensure a safe production environment and high-quality standards. Address risks involving food safety and sanitation with urgency and leadership. Maintain documentation and reports related to sanitation processes and inspections. Perform other duties as assigned to support sanitation and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in food plant sanitation, including managerial or supervisory experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and relevant software. Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills. Ability to work in cold environments and handle sanitation chemicals (e.g., acids, caustics, chlorines). Willingness to enter confined spaces and manage physically demanding tasks. Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to train others in sanitation practices. Fluency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time. They must be able to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions. The employee may also be regularly required to remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for 50% of the time; regularly operate office machinery, utilize cleaning chemicals, . The employee must be able to travel up to 50% of the time. Travel may vary in frequency and duration. The employee must demonstrate the ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
