SUMMARY The Receiving Supervisor oversees the department's daily operations. This role ensures that all incoming shipments are received accurately, processed efficiently, and stored properly. The Receiving Supervisor manages a team of receiving associates, coordinates with other departments, and maintains compliance with company policies and safety regulations. KEY RESPONSIBILITY
Oversees the receipt of all incoming shipments, ensuring that items are unloaded, inspected, and documented accurately. Manages the allocation and organization of incoming goods within the warehouse. Ensures that all received goods match purchase orders and packing slips in quantity and description. Resolves discrepancies in received shipments by coordinating with vendors and the procurement team. Leads, trains, and supervises the receiving team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance. Schedules and assigns daily tasks to receiving associates, ensuring a balanced workload and meeting deadlines. Conducts regular performance evaluations, provides feedback, and identifies training and development opportunities. Collaborates with the inventory management team to maintain accurate records of received goods. Assists in coordinating inventory counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy. Manages inventory discrepancies and works to minimize shrinkage. Ensures all receiving activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA standards. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized receiving area, promptly addressing hazards. Trains staff on proper handling and safety procedures for incoming goods. Works closely with the warehouse manager, shipping department, and procurement team to ensure seamless operations. Communicates effectively with vendors and carriers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve issues. Prepares and submits regular reports on receiving activities, including any discrepancies, damages, or delays. Identifies and implements process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the receiving department. Stay informed about industry best practices and recommend changes to improve warehouse operations.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS
An associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse receiving, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and receiving processes. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Forklift certification is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position typically works in a warehouse environment, exposed to varying temperatures and noise levels. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and operate warehouse equipment.
